Inspired by the intricate doll clothes her maternal grandmother made , Nancy stitched her first garment at age 10 for her newborn sister. Much later she fabricated clothing and costumes for her young son. While pursuing a primary career as a nurse practitioner, Nancy acquired an art background and started painting. Later, she began making and showing artwork while studying with Layne Goldsmith at the University of Washington where Nancy earned a certificate in Fiber Art in 2009. It was here that Nancy began combining stitch and paint in her fiber art.
